- Keep a folded piece of paper in your book as you read.
- Whenever you come across a really interesting word that you’d like to make a part of your active vocabulary, or a word that you haven’t come across before, write it on the piece of paper.
- Don’t stop to look it up unless you really need to.
After you finish reading, choose 10-15 words each time, or 30 from the whole book, and look them up both in an English-English dictionary and in an English-Icelandic one. Make sure that the meaning that you write fits the way the word is used in the book. Then write your own sentence using the word.
